BIRTH IS NOT MEANT TO BE PAINFUL!

This is a controversial statement as most women describe birth as painful.  Mothers tell their daughters, daughters tell their daughters – and sons, just how painful birth was for them.  Women read about the pain, see it on movies, hear about it on social media and then listen to it from obstetricians, G.P’s, and even midwives.  So it is not surprising that the most common FEAR a woman will tell you about is THE PAIN!  It is important for the doula to understand where that pain comes from and what a doula can do to change that perception.

WE MUST FIRST TAKE CARE OF THE MIND OF THE PREGNANT WOMAN SO THE MIND OF HER UNBORN BABY IS TAKEN CARE OF

The mind is the most important organ involved in pregnancy, birthing and mothering. It is important for the doula to speak about pregnancy and birthing using positive language.

WARNING FOR DOULAS: if YOU have had less than optimal birth experiences, or traumatic births, it is vitally important that you DO NOT transfer your own experience onto the client.  (Please note: I offer all our trainee doulas a discount on hypnotherapy session to heal your own experience, so that you are not subconsciously passing any negativity on to your client)
